WALKING AND CYCLING
The North York Moors is a great location for walking and cycling. There are plenty of walks you can do directly from the door of Lock Cottage, whether that's the mile to Levisham or longer treks to the Hole of Horcum and further afield over the moors.

Dalby Forest Centre is within walking and cycling distance and has cycle and walking trails to suit all ages and abilities, as well as play areas, a visitor centre and Go Ape.
FAMILY FUN
There are lots of attractions within a short distance of Lockton.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is almost on the doorstep. You can walk to the station at Levisham (2.5 miles) or head down to Pickering and travel the full length of the line.

Eden Camp, just outside Malton, is great for history buffs and WW2 enthusiasts.
​
Theme park fans don't have to travel far to Flamingo Land for rides to suit all ages and temperaments.
THE SEASIDE
Lock Cottage is within easy reach of both Whitby and Scarborough.

Whitby boasts winding streets, an historic harbour and the impressive Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey.

Scarborough is a traditional British seaside resort, with award-winning beaches, beautiful parks and gardens, and its own castle.
​
Robin Hood's Bay is always worth a visit. It's a great place for pottering through the old streets and exploring North Yorkshire's heritage coast.
