It’s December so we are officially allowed to talk about Christmas! Hurrah!
If you love Christmas as much as we do you won't be disappointed in what North Yorkshire has to offer over the festive period. Here are some of the best.
Santa Specials on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - various dates in December
Hop aboard the Santa Express at either Pickering or Grosmont station for a festive run down the line. And meet the man himself!
Christmas in Neverland, Castle Howard, until 2nd January
Castle Howard's Christmas-themed extravaganza is truly magical. The main house becomes a Peter Pan-themed odyssey. Experience afternoon tea, a guided tour by the designer and, of course, meet Father Christmas.
Rudolph Run 5km, Helmsley 10th December
For the more active among us, join in the Christmas-themed 5km run in Duncombe Park, Helmsley. Dress in your best Christmas outfit - reindeer antlers are handed out at the start of the run.
A Christmas Carol, Malton, 5th-24th December
Immersive theatre and dining experience in the streets and buildings of Malton. Be guided through the famous tale by Charles Dickens himself!
Jack and the Beanstalk, Scarborough, 9th December-1st January
It wouldn't be Christmas without a pantomime (oh yes it would, oh no it wouldn't!). Family favourite Jack and the Beanstalk plays at the Spa Theatre in Scarborough until New Year's Day.
Whitby Winter Excursions, 28th December-7th January
If you're looking for something to do in that tricky period between Christmas and New Year head back to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Every day from 28th December to 7th January you can jump on a steam train and travel the full length of the line to Whitby. Alight for some mooching time by the seaside and then head back to Pickering.
